The following procedure will return the program to the previous working version. NOTE: “If you restore a qcdao.bak you will lose all data that was added to the database between when the backup file was made and restored.”
1). Roll back the database: Use Option 1 if you created a *.bak backup before you upgraded. Option 2 is for those that do not have a backup.
Option 1: Restore the backup.
i. Start > Programs > Bio-Rad Laboratories > Unity Real Time - Database Utilities > Backup – Restore Database.
ii. Make sure “Restore” is selected. Everything else should be ok by default (unless you have renamed the QCDAO.BAK file). Click “Ok”.
Option 2: Create an archive.
i. Create a folder on the c:\ called URT_Archive.
ii. From within URT, archive the data using: Tools > Utilities > Archive/Restore choose “Archive to”. Make sure to change the “Data folder” field to c:\URT_Archive. Click “Ok”.
Restore a blank database from a previous MSSQL installation:
- Start > Programs > Bio-Rad Laboratories > Unity Real Time - Database Utilities > Backup – Restore Database.
- Make sure “Restore” is selected.
- Change the path for the “file name on the local hard driver” to C:\MSSQL\Utils\QCDAODB.DMP. The .dmp file is a blank database file that is being restored). Click “Ok”.
2). Roll Back the URT Client on the Data Innovations Instrument Manager:
i. Schedule with the lab a convenient time as the entire Instrument Manager system will be offline for a number of minutes depending on hardware. (5-10 min is the average, be prepared for longer just in case).
ii. Use the Control Panel “Add Remove Programs” to remove Unity Real Time 1.0.
iii. Reinstall the client using the CD. Choose “Advanced” during the setup to install just the Unity Real Time application.
iv. Reboot the computer.
v. If it cannot see a local database, the URT client will display a database login screen when opening the program. Use this to connect to your URT database.
3). Restore the Archive:
i. From within URT, restore the data using: Tools > Utilities > Archive/Restore > choose “Restore from”. Make sure to change the “Data folder” field to c:\URT_Archive. Click “Ok”.
4). Roll Back other client installations: There may be multiple client installations.
i. Use the Control Panel “Add Remove Programs” to remove Unity Real Time 1.0.
ii. Reinstall the client using the URT CD. Choose “Advanced” during the setup to install just the Unity Real Time application.
iii. If it cannot see a local database, the URT client will display a database login screen when opening the program. Use this to connect to your URT database.
5). Test and verify:
i. Make sure each client installation has Lab\Lot\Test data on the left hand side.
ii. (Verify that data flows from Instrument Manager into URT (the Bench Review is the best place to look).
